Novice (May & June Only)

Age 5+

The novice crew will enjoy the leisure pool to gain strength and skills. They will build confidence through play and instilling the fun of swim club. The littlest seahorses will embark on their journey in the lane pool throughout the season to find their comfort with assistance so they can participate in meets if they are interested. NOTE: This is not a replacement for swimming lessons - please ensure your child is interested in becoming a competitive swimmer.

Swimmer skills required:

  • completed Swimmer 1 working on Swimmer 2 (Life saving Society)
  • be comfortable swimming on back and front:10m
  • know how to swim front and back crawl: 10m
  • able to tread water for 15 sec. with mouth and nose above water at all times
  • recovery to nearest wall after a jump into the pool edge without assistance
  • to focus and attend to instructions as well as showing kindness to team mates

Seahorse Splashers

Mon & Wed: 4-5pm (6 spots)

Junior Seahorses

Div 1-2

The Junior swimmers need to be able to swim lengths unassisted and have a familiarity with some of the different strokes. Swimmers will learn all 4 strokes each session; they will gain comfort and confidence with starts, build endurance, practice sportsmanship and have a lot of fun!

Swimmer skills required:

  • to swim 50m unassisted; without stopping
  • be independent and comfortable being unattended in the deep end
  • tread water for 30 seconds with mouth and nose above water at all times
  • recovery to the nearest wall after a dive or jump into the pools edge without assistance
  • to be able to maintain respect for their coach and other swimmers through their actions and words on deck, in the water, in the changerooms
  • have focus during practice by paying attention to instructions and not bothering teammates

Senior Seahorses

Div 3 +

The senior swimmers will be focused on endurance, speed, skill and enjoyment of being leaders in the pool.

Swimmer Skills Required:

  • to swim 50m unassisted; without stopping

We are unable to guarantee a spot in another program if this is to occur. Please consider the requirements carefully.
