Set up from 5:30 - 8pm
Tasks:
- Unload trailer (at back of aquatic centre)
- Set up marshalling tent and chairs (outside)
- Tents and tables for concession and silent auction (front of aquatic centre)
- Scaffolding (inside - deep end of pool)
- Race flags, posters, other organizational items (around pool)
- Timing and office set up (lifeguard office)
- Deck food organization (multi-purpose room)
- Pick up scaffolding
Saturday
June 1
Each shift is separate, sign up for one or both. Saturday and Sunday shifts are separate too.
Morning shift begin at 8am - lunch
Afternoon shift begin at 1pm till end of meet
Tower:
- 2 volunteers (inside)
- Operating or assisting in the timing system
- Needs to be good with computers and has no fear of heights
Office:
- 4 volunteers (inside)
- Assistant Meet Recorder: Needs to have computer confidence. Learning from an experienced recorder (Chief Meet Recorder)
- The office roles ensure that all the judging and times are properly applied. Determine the final order and official times. Ensure disqualifications are properly noted.
- Awards: ensures all proper labels are printed for ribbons and medals sorted accordingly.
Runner:
- 2 volunteers (inside)
- Brings results from the tower to the office.
- Could be done by older kids, ensure you like walking!
Marshalling:
- 3 volunteers (outside)
- Clerk of the course: Will be checking-in swimmers prior to event. Scratching swimmers and making adjustments. Entering relays morning of event.
- Marshall: Will assist the clerk of the course. Ensure swimmers are sitting in the correct order in seats and in the correct heat.
Timer:
- 15 volunteers +1 (inside)
- Head timer: Measures and records the winner of each race. Checks in with all timers.
- Timers: 3 parents per lane. Great way to meet new parents from other teams. You get snacks!
Kitchen:
- 3 volunteers (inside)
- One person in charge of the deck food (or shared role) will remain in the multipurpose room to make snacks.
- 2 to run the snacks to on deck volunteers (officials, timers, coaches) This is a walking on deck position. Can be teenagers too.
Concession Crew:
- 2 volunteers (outside)
- Comfortable selling coffee and snacks to swimmers and cheering squads.
- Selling of programs for the meet
- Comfortable with the lunch rush (Saturday burritos, Sunday Pizza)
Silent Auction:
- 2 volunteers (outside)
- Saturday ONLY but a longer shift (8am - 2pm)
- Monitoring auction sheets and items
- Gathering final bids and responsible for collecting payments
- Monitoring 50/50 raffle
Floaters:
- 2 volunteers (inside/outside)
- As the name suggestions, your role is to float to provide volunteers relief to watch their child swim if they've chosen a volunteer role outside of the action.
- Also to provide deck relief for washroom breaks.
Sunday
June 2
Jobs are same as Saturday (except no silent auction) but will now include:
Take Down: Everyone is ready to go home but it is our teams responsibility to ensure the trailers are ready to head to the next event. The more hands we have to support take down allows everyone to get home quickly.
Ensuring the facility inside and out is clean and orderly is also our responsibility.
